Do you want to build a… snowflake?

The first week of December saw the Mackman team get well and truly into the festive spirit.

Retro Christmas lights now scatter the desk in the Communications department, and not one, but two Christmas Trees are now up and spreading sparkly joy throughout the office (one of which is admittedly only 2 inches high, but brings a lot of happiness to our Technical department). On Tuesday lunch time, the whole team got together to create Christmas decorations for our contribution to Sudbury’s annual Christmas Tree Festival.

The festival is a focal point of Sudbury’s Christmas festivities, raising money for good causes in the community. Last year, the festival managed to fill St Peter’s church with just under 90 Christmas trees, decorated by schools, play groups and youth organisations, as well as charities, local businesses (including ourselves!) and other individuals.

This year, our tree will be decorated with hand made snow flakes made out of doilies. Every member of the team created 10 snowflakes. This work required a lot of energy and creative brain power, which was fuelled by Mackman’s Christmas Spotify playlist, sausage rolls, scotch eggs and of course, mince pies. Some of us were very systematic with our snowflake cutting, whilst others went for more of a free-style approach.

The festival is organised by Rotary Clubs of Sudbury and Sudbury Talbot and is open to everybody from 10th to 14th December. Wednesday to Saturday it is open from 10am to 6 pm, Sunday 10am to 4pm.

Every Christmas tree will be decorated differently, with lots of lights and hand made decorations and messages. There will also be live music and refreshments.

It is £1 admission per adult and under 12s are free. All proceeds will be going to great causes in the community chosen by the Rotary Clubs of Sudbury and Sudbury Talbot.
