Anesta Newson, Chief Exectutive of the Bridge Project, has received a Special Award from Babergh District Council (Suffolk) for her outstanding contribution to the local community. Mackman clients, the Bridge Project, supports disadvantaged adults by providing vocational training, education and employment opportunities in a safe, supportive and welcoming environment. It was established as a charity by Anesta in 1995.
With its vision of ‘a community within a community’, the Bridge Project is a truely inclusive place which works to reach out to other local organisations, individuals and the general public, as well as supporting its longer term students. The charity has carried out a huge range of ventures over the years in addition to its core training and education provision. Current on-going activities include over-65s lunchclubs, art and science workshops for children, a meal delivery service for local pensioners and a popular Film and Supper Club.
Anesta was singled out for a Special Award by a panel of judges comprising the Chairman of the Council, the council’s Community Development Officer and parish representatives from across the county. The Special Award is presented entirely at the discretion of the judges to an organisation or individual who is judged to have made the most significant contribution to the community in the county. It is the highest accolade for service to the community and represents outstanding achievement by Anesta and her team at the Bridge Project. Mackman is extremely proud to play a part in the organisation’s valuable work and we look forward to supporting the charity as it continues to thrive and grow.
