Anesta Newson, founder of local charity The Bridge Project and Mackman client, is to receive an MBE having appeared in the Queen’s New Year honours list. The prestigious accolade is the result of her services provided for adults with intellectual disabilities in Sudbury, Suffolk.
Anesta is local to Sudbury and The Bridge Project has played a central role in the provision of services and facilities for adults in the community with physical, learning or ‘hidden’ disabilities since its launch in 1995. On speaking to the Suffolk Free Press paper, Anesta said, ‘It feels quite unreal and it is a bit of a shock. Everybody at the project is absolutely thrilled and it is nice to think someone thinks you are doing ok.’
Mackman is a long term supporter of The Bridge Project and the valuable work it does within the community. For more information on the charity, visit their website by following this link.
