The Pheasant pub and hotel, based in Gestingthorpe, Essex, is on a roll at the moment, having won an important regional award, and being nominated for another!
Following a site visit from the judge, The Pheasant has been named as The Best Food Pub 2011 in the East Anglia Region in the Great British Pub Awards. Owners Diana and James Donoghue have now been invited to the awards ceremony at the London Hilton in September, where the overall category champions for the whole of the UK will be announced.
The family-run business certainly have a recipe for success as The Pheasant has recently been announced as finalist for Best Gastro Pub in Essex as part of the Essex Life Food and Drink Awards 2011. Diana says, ‘It’s just terrific, we’re so honored and pleased! We’re very proud of our pub and the food we serve in the restaurant, and are just so glad people are enjoying it.’
The Pheasant pub has also recently opened a hotel on its premises, called the Coach House. The design of each of the five luxurious bedrooms was inspired by a different local historical figure, making this pub, restaurant and hotel a true delight to behold.
